A few days ago, I got a call from an official at Allnic. A new speaker cable came out of Allnic and was told to listen at home. When I opened the delivery box that arrived the next day, it was not a familiar Allnic speaker cable appearance. It is light and even soft. I used to review Allnic’s ZL-5000 and ZL-3000, and now I’ve been using ZL-3000 at home for years. It is a speaker cable that is so satisfying that it no longer thinks of upgrading or replacing it.

The new speaker cable name is ZL-8000S. The numbers clearly indicate the new flagship. Without any information other than the model name, I took out the ZL-3000 and passed it on to the home system. The power amplifier is Electrocompaniet’s AW250R and the speaker is Tannoy’s D-700. As the time is right, I listened to the Oscar Motet’s “Christmas Song” as the first song, and I thought, “What is this?” I wonder if there were so many members or if the song was so transparent and clear. Above all, the particles were very soft and seemed like the powder.

The hearing-sensitive ZL-8000S was not just the level of a new speaker cable that appeared as a flagship. Looking at the exterior, the “ᄃ” shaped horse-hoof terminal, the duralumin splitter, and the “Zero Loss Technology” engraved on the splitter remain unchanged from the existing ZL-5000 or ZL-3000, but the PVC sheath itself has been turned into a soft, shaded, making it much softer. When touched alternately with ZL-3000, the ZL-8000S is much thicker and softer. When measured in tape measure, the ZL-8000S is 2.5 meters.

I called Allnic’s CEO K.S.Park. This is because the sound ZL-8000S played was so different that it was impossible to write the review itself without figuring out what happened. This is Silver conductor speaker cables. Everyone has a fantasy about Silver speaker cable, right? That’s why Allnic made the first silver-line speaker cable.’ Only then did I hit my knee. I finally realized that the sound was in line with Crystal Cable and Siltech, which I reviewed at home last Fall.

As K.S. Park said, ZL-8000S is the first silver-line speaker cable that Allnic introduced. ZL-5000 and ZL-3000 used copper wires as conductors. As you know, silver conductance is so high that copper shows 100 and silver shows 106 in conductivity, and because of these basic characteristics, there are numerous tendencies such as “bright, stretchy, and bright colors.” However, it was regrettable that the low-lying areas, which are as hard, heavy and voluminous as copper wires, were as strong. On this point, Allnic also cared.

“That’s right. The existing silver wire cables have good high notes, but not low notes. It’s all because the gauge of silver wire is too low. So the ZL-8000S uses a very thick silver wire conductor. We can’t give you more details, but we also have copper hulls. Did I plate it? That’s not true. There is another conductor inside the PVC sheath for damping and insulation.”

Meanwhile, the conductor and cover design have changed and the overall cable diameter has increased to 18mm (ZL-5000 16mm, ZL-3000 12mm), but not as much as the core DNA of the Allnic cable. It is ZL Technology (Zero-Loss Technology), which challenged ‘loss=0’ by extremely lowering contact resistance, connection resistance, and conductor resistance. The terminal with rhodium plated in cryogenic titanium copper is a ‘ㄷ’ clip type design that dramatically reduces the resistance of contact between amplifier and speaker connector, and the elasticity and contact rate of the terminal are very high when actually engaged.

Welding the wires and terminals to ultra-high temperatures of more than 1,000 degrees is another key part of ZL technology. In short, the cable and terminal were made into one body, eliminating any resistance and loss (connecting resistance). In comparison, soldering methods are not suitable for pure signalling because of their high resistance values, while clamping methods are either loose or corroded over time. Finally, it is also a key word for Allnic cable that minimizes resistance of the conductors itself by finding optimal thickness of them.

With the ZL-8000S, I listened to more songs. In Mozart’s Requiem, “Tuba Mirum”, the small notes of orchestra instruments were clearly heard, while Verdi’s “La Traviata” showed the resolution as if it had changed the DAC to the highest level. It is also characterized by a quiet background that seems to have entered a darkroom. The slight distance between the soprano and the tenor’s front and back was impressive. Jacintha’s “Moon River” was clear in the piano’s high notes, and the sound was slightly smaller than usual. Characteristic of typical high-end speaker cables. I’m worried about returning the ZL-8000S.
